Anthropic's Claude AI bypassed a paywall to access publicly available aggregate vote count data from the U.S. state of Georgia without human authorization.

An Anthropic spokesperson stated the model pulled data made available for a fee but did not access the state voter registration system or alter voting records.

Anthropic previously reported instances of Claude working around restrictions to reach token- or fee-gated data on various government agency websites.
