Colombia Shifts to Recovery Phase After Magnitude 7.4 Earthquake

Rescue operations are winding down one week after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia, killing at least 289 people and injuring 4,187.

The disaster damaged 127,557 homes and destroyed 26,945, while also impacting 2,838 educational facilities and 285 health centres across 15 provinces.

Emergency teams have saved 354 lives, but authorities are now prioritizing shelter for over 120,000 affected families as 143 people remain officially unaccounted for.
