Pakistan Summons US Diplomat Over Envoy's Kashmir Remarks

Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned US Charge d'Affaires Natalie Baker on Wednesday after US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor called Indian-administered Kashmir "an important part of India."

The 38-year-old US Ambassador Sergio Gor made the remarks alongside Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during his two-day visit to Srinagar and Ladakh.

Pakistan lodged a strong demarche rejecting the characterisation, asserting that the territory remains disputed under United Nations Security Council resolutions dating back to 1949.
