Police and Labour Department officials inspected 16,951 premises across Karnataka on Saturday, rescuing 800 child labourers in a two-hour operation between 10 a.m. and noon.

Bengaluru city accounted for 63% of the total rescues with 503 children, while Vijayapura followed with 72 rescues across its inspected establishments.

Authorities registered 18 cases under child labour and juvenile justice laws, handing over the rescued children to the Child Welfare Committee for rehabilitation.
