Nepal flash floods death toll reaches 1,399 with thousands missing

The death toll in Nepal's flash floods reached 1,399 on Tuesday after more bodies were recovered from eight affected districts following an ice-rock avalanche near the border on August 26.

Security personnel continued joint search and rescue operations across the affected northern and central regions, where an estimated 5,170 people remain missing. Authorities confirmed that 13,742 people have been rescued so far.

Chitwan recorded the highest number of recovered bodies at 364, followed by Nawalparasi East with 232 and Nawalparasi West with 222.
