The University Grants Commission has authorized CMJ University students to earn legitimate degrees through examinations supervised by an external agency appointed by the Meghalaya government.
This decision follows a December 9, 2025, Supreme Court mandate aimed at resolving the academic limbo of students enrolled in diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programs.
While current students can now migrate to other Meghalaya institutions or sit for supervised exams, the directive does not address the status of thousands who graduated during the university's disputed years.
