Madras High Court to Hear Udhayanidhi Stalin's Bail Plea

The Madras High Court agreed to an urgent hearing on Tuesday for an anticipatory bail plea filed by Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin.

The case stems from an alleged offensive remark made by Stalin during a public speech in Thanjavur on August 3, 2026, regarding the Cauvery water dispute.

Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan directed the government counsel to instruct police to avoid arresting the leader until the court examines the petition before the August 5 budget session.
