Public sector and regional rural banks to remain open on Sunday ahead of nationwide strike

The Department of Financial Services announced that all Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will operate normally on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

The measure was taken because the United Forum of Bank Unions is scheduled to go on a three-day nationwide strike starting September 28.

The bank unions are primarily striking to demand a 5-day workweek, coinciding with the half-yearly closing of the banking sector.
