THE BRIEF

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay convened an all-party meeting on August 8, 2026, to discuss the Delimitation Bill 2026, but faced a significant boycott from major political parties.

2

Out of the state's 57 MPs, 37 opted to stay away, including all 30 MPs from the ruling DMK and four from the AIADMK, leaving only 20 attendees primarily from Congress and smaller allies.

3

DMK MP Kanimozhi dismissed the meeting as an unnecessary distraction from the Cauvery issue, noting that the Union government has not officially tabled the Delimitation Bill in the current Parliament session.
