An Indian seafarer, Suraj Yadav from Deoria in Uttar Pradesh, was killed on Wednesday when the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged bulk carrier MV Cape Dao was attacked off the coast of Oman.
The vessel was carrying 28 crew members, including 20 Indians, when it was hit twice at 6.35am GMT while sailing from the UAE to India, prompting evacuations by the Royal Navy of Oman.
Yadav is the 11th Indian seafarer killed in the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing West Asia conflicts, drawing condemnation from India and demands for accountability from maritime unions.
