Sonam Wangchuk Intervenes in Jharkhand Recruitment Protest Hunger Strike

Activist Sonam Wangchuk urged Jharkhand student leader Devendra Nath Mahato to consume water on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to prevent further health deterioration during his ongoing hunger strike in Ranchi.

Mahato, who has been fasting for four days, agreed to drink fluids after the phone call, while five additional protesters joined the indefinite hunger strike at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium.

Protesters demand the cancellation of the 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission examination and a CBI inquiry into recruitment irregularities, following the arrest of 14 individuals by the state CID.
