Google contracted for 3,590 megawatts of power from Constellation Energy in the largest US power grid, including a 20-year agreement for 890 MW from upgraded nuclear plants.
Constellation will invest over $4.3 billion to upgrade 11 nuclear units across Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to supply data centres and enhance grid capacity.
The agreement responds to PJM Interconnection proposals requiring data centre customers to bring their own power or face remote shut-offs during peak demand.
