Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi stated that operationalizing 10% of land suitable for agrivoltaics can meet India's projected 2050 power demand.
Speaking at the seventh Agrivoltaics World Conference, Joshi announced that the government will launch a major agrivoltaic program under the next phase of PM-KUSUM.
Joshi noted that agrivoltaic installations typically cost 25-30% more than conventional ground-mounted solar projects, emphasizing the need to bridge this cost differential.
