J&K Assembly Passes Resolution Demanding Full Statehood Amid BJP Walkout

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly passed a resolution on September 28, 2026, demanding the urgent restoration of full statehood to the Union Territory.

Moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the resolution was passed amid a walkout and protests by BJP legislators over references to the former state's pre-August 2019 status.

During the session, CM Abdullah also introduced five bills, including amendments to ministers' salaries and legislation to promote ease of doing business.
