Meloni Plans School Burqa Ban and Foreign Student Caps in Italy

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced plans to introduce measures banning burqas and niqabs in schools while capping foreign student enrollment in classrooms.

The proposed policy will also mandate Italian language classes for parents of foreign students experiencing severe integration difficulties within the school system.

To become law, the measure will require parliamentary approval within 60 days once formally approved by the conservative government.
