CBSE clarifies Class 10 passing criteria requires 33% overall

The Central Board of Secondary Education clarified that Class 10 students need a minimum of 33% marks overall in a subject, combining internal and external exams.

The board addressed confusion caused by a recent circular, confirming that the assessment pattern remains unchanged from the 2025-26 academic year.

CBSE officials noted that a proposed rule requiring separate 33% passing marks in Class 12 practicals and exams was withdrawn to keep the old format.
