Microsoft has updated the Windows 11 out-of-box experience (OOBE) to allow users to directly opt out of OneDrive backup during the initial setup process.
The change replaces the previous 'Remind me in 3 days' button, which had been criticized as a dark pattern that prevented users from declining the service permanently.
This update is part of the Windows K2 initiative, which aims to provide users with greater control over service configurations and reduce coercive setup practices.
