A Macau court sentenced 69-year-old former lawmaker and democracy campaigner Au Kam San to 12 years and six months in prison on Friday.
Au became the first person convicted under national security laws widened in 2023 in the territory, following charges of subversion and collaboration with external organisations.
The activist co-organised annual vigils for victims of the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown and was detained in July 2025 ahead of his closed-door trial.
