Chicago Elementary School Closed Due to Suspected Mold

John H. Kinzie Elementary School in Chicago has suspended classes in its own building due to suspected mold, forcing 600 students to relocate to the adjacent Kennedy High School.

Chicago Public Schools confirmed that reports of peeling paint and potential mold were flagged earlier this month, leading to professional environmental testing and ongoing remediation efforts.

Students will continue classes at the high school through Friday, with the elementary school scheduled to reopen only after independent testing confirms it meets safety clearance criteria.
