Rescuers recovered the body of renowned climber Nirmal Purja at an altitude of 5,700 metres on Broad Peak in Gilgit-Baltistan, three days after a fatal avalanche struck his expedition.
The Alpine Club of Pakistan confirmed that four bodies have been recovered in total, including Purja and three other climbers, while one additional body remains in hazardous terrain.
Purja, a former British army soldier and record-holding mountaineer, was leading a ten-member team when the avalanche occurred on the world's 12th-highest mountain.
