Apple Issues Global Spyware Threat Notifications to Users

Apple sent threat notifications on August 13, 2026, to users across 110 countries, warning them that they may have been individually targeted by sophisticated mercenary spyware attacks.

The company stated that these attacks, which cost millions of dollars to execute, are often associated with state actors or private firms like the NSO Group, the developer of Pegasus.

Apple has issued such alerts to users in over 150 countries since 2021, specifically targeting high-risk individuals including journalists, activists, diplomats, and politicians.
