
The death toll from ongoing floods in Assam reached 89 on Wednesday, with over 1.22 lakh people affected across five districts as overnight rains threaten further inundation.
Sivasagar remains the worst-hit district with nearly 60,000 people impacted, while the Dhansiri river at Numaligarh in Golaghat district continues to flow in a severe flood situation.
Authorities are operating 55 relief camps sheltering 17,857 displaced people, while 15,342.92 hectares of agricultural land and 26,575 domestic animals have been affected by the deluge.
