The Delhi government will sell onions at ₹35 per kg, a 36% discount from the current retail price of ₹55 per kg, to provide relief from high costs.
The first consignment of 800 tonnes of onions is scheduled to arrive in the national capital on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, via the Kanda Express.
Authorities will also monitor sugar prices, which rose to ₹64 per kg on August 25, and enforce stock limits to prevent hoarding of the commodity.
