Indian women's hockey midfielder Neha Goyal revealed she played the entire Asian Games tournament with a Grade 2 ligament tear in her right hand.

India defeated China 1-0 in the final at Aichi-Nagoya through a 10th-minute goal by Lalremsiami to win their first Asian Games gold medal in 44 years.

The historic victory earned the Indian women's team a direct quota berth for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
