Novak Djokovic expressed sympathy for Daniil Medvedev after the Russian player was disqualified from the China Open semifinals for hitting a spectator with a ball.
Djokovic recalled his own similar disqualification at the 2020 US Open, stating that Medvedev clearly had no intention of hitting the spectator.
Following the default, Djokovic advanced to the Beijing final to face Alex de Minaur as he pursues his seventh tournament title.
