A Michigan jury ruled that a handwritten document found in Aretha Franklin's couch cushions in 2014 was her valid last will and testament.
Following the July 2023 verdict upholding the document, a Michigan judge awarded Franklin's $1.1 million Bloomfield Hills residence to her son Kecalf.
The legal dispute divided Franklin's sons over two competing handwritten papers left behind after the singer died in 2018 without a formal typewritten will.
