Cargo ship sinks after hitting mine in Strait of Hormuz, says Iran

A cargo ship carrying 2,500 containers sank in the Strait of Hormuz after hitting a naval mine, according to Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps navy.

State TV reported that the vessel caught fire while travelling on an illegal and dangerous route on Wednesday morning.

There was no immediate verification of the sinking and no report by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations monitor regarding the crew's fate.
