Pediatricians Urge Surveillance Amid Chandipura Virus Outbreak Concerns

Pediatricians in Telangana are calling for heightened surveillance and hospital preparedness as cases of the fatal Chandipura virus emerge in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The virus, transmitted by female sand flies, primarily affects children under 15 and can progress from high fever and vomiting to seizures and coma within a short period.

While no cases have been reported in Telangana, experts warn that heavy rainfall forecasted by the IMD could increase vector populations, necessitating immediate clinical management protocols.
