The U.S. war against Iran cost the Department of Defence more than $38 billion through August 1, with ongoing monthly expenses projected at $3 billion or more depending on conflict intensity.
The Congressional Budget Office estimated the conflict will push first-quarter 2027 inflation about 0.5 percentage points higher due to shipping disruptions and reduced oil and natural gas shipments.
The White House previously requested $87.6 billion in supplemental funding for the war effort, though Congress has not yet approved the request.
