Delhi Reports Six-Fold Surge in H1N1 Influenza Cases

Delhi has recorded 1,344 H1N1 influenza cases so far in 2026, marking a nearly six-fold increase compared to the 229 cases reported during the same period last year.

AIIMS doctors attribute the surge to monsoon conditions and temperature drops, which create favorable environments for the spread of influenza A and H1N1 viruses.

Health experts advise that elderly individuals, children under five, and those with chronic conditions like diabetes or hypertension are at the highest risk of severe infection.
