The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is now the fastest-growing on record, claiming one life every 30 minutes according to UN official Tom Fletcher.
Since the outbreak was declared on May 15, there have been over 4,500 confirmed cases and at least 2,128 deaths across six DRC provinces and neighboring Uganda.
The UN has allocated an additional $30.5 million in emergency funding to combat the Bundibugyo strain, which currently lacks a known vaccine or treatment.
