Tension gripped Manipur's Kangpokpi district after the bodies of two missing Kuki men, identified as Paoginlal Hangshing and Tinginlun Chongloi, were recovered, triggering protests and clashes that injured at least three protesters.
Joint teams comprising Manipur Police, CoBRA, CRPF, Assam Rifles and the Rapid Action Force recovered the bodies during a search operation east of National Highway 2 following the men's disappearance on October 28.
The Committee on Tribal Unity announced it would not accept the bodies until five demands are met, including the removal of Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho and the transfer of the case to the NIA.
