Centre Proposes Article 371(K) for Ladakh to Address Legislative Demands

The Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed a new Chapter K under Article 371 of the Constitution to grant legislative powers to Ladakh.

The proposal follows ongoing talks between the Centre and Ladakh-based groups, including the LAB and KDA, regarding the region's demand for Sixth Schedule protections.

While the offer includes an elected body for the Union Territory, leaders are seeking further clarity on the extent of authority over law and order.
