THE BRIEF
1

Pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has agreed to a $5.5 billion settlement to resolve approximately 69,000 lawsuits in the U.S. alleging its talc-based baby powder caused ovarian cancer.

2

The proposed settlement, which covers 99.75 percent of outstanding U.S. talc cases, requires acceptance by 95 percent of claimants to become final and legally binding for the company.

3

This agreement excludes ongoing litigation in the United Kingdom, where a separate case filed in October 2025 involves more than 7,000 potential claimants currently before the UK High Court.
