Representatives of former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's B'Yachad party endorsed Gadi Eisenkot on Friday to form Israel's next government.
During parliamentary consultations, 67 members of the 120-seat Knesset backed Eisenkot against 46 for incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, though coalition challenges remain.
President Isaac Herzog will decide whom to task with forming the government on November 8, with the appointed candidate receiving 28 days to succeed.
