Cricketer Abhishek Porel Arrested on Rape Charges in Hooghly

Bengal cricketer and Delhi Capitals batsman Abhishek Porel was arrested by Mogra police late on Monday, August 10, 2026, following sexual assault allegations.

The arrest follows a June 23 complaint by a Karnataka medical student alleging sexual relations under a false promise of marriage over three-and-a-half years.

Porel faces charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 69, and is scheduled to be produced before a court in Chinsurah on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
