Tamil Nadu Health Department Confirms Seasonal Influenza Remains Under Control

The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine stated on August 26, 2026, that seasonal influenza cases reported during the current monsoon season remain under control.

Health officials are conducting year-round surveillance of Influenza-Like Illness and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection, with Rapid Response Teams monitoring clusters and ensuring the availability of Oseltamivir in government hospitals.

The department advised the public to seek early medical help at primary health centres for symptoms like fever and cough, while emphasizing that high-risk groups receive special monitoring and timely antiviral treatment.
