Washington Wildfires Destroy 700 Buildings; 65,000 Residents Evacuated

Fast-moving wildfires near Spokane, Washington, have destroyed over 700 buildings and forced approximately 65,000 residents to evacuate their homes since the weekend.

More than 1,000 firefighters are battling the blazes, which have burned over 8,000 acres of land fueled by extreme heat, drought, and strong winds.

Authorities arrested a 37-year-old suspect on suspicion of arson on Monday evening, while forecasters warn that hotter, drier weather could worsen conditions by midweek.
