Mass drone attack on Moscow kills two amid parliamentary elections

A massive drone barrage targeting Moscow and its surrounding region resulted in two deaths and damaged a major oil refinery on Sunday as Russia concluded its parliamentary elections.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that air defenses intercepted and shot down over 1,600 drones, with 450 aimed directly at the capital, while 400 people were evacuated from a damaged 21-storey building.

The strikes coincide with heightened Ukrainian long-term attacks on Russian energy infrastructure and a tightly controlled three-day vote intended to reinforce President Vladimir Putin's governance.
