An Air India captain has tested positive for marijuana in a mandatory confirmatory dope test following a mid-air flight control incident on a Phuket-Delhi flight.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed the positive result, which follows a rare 300-foot altitude drop event that occurred while the pilot was reportedly leaning behind the cockpit seat.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has launched a formal probe into the incident, with the pilot currently grounded pending further disciplinary action by the airline.
