Following the selection of Marathi film Gondhal as India's official entry for the 99th Academy Awards, jury member Vivek Vaswani revealed that Ranveer Singh's blockbusters missed the cut.
Vaswani stated that only four out of the 14-member jury voted for the Dhurandhar franchise, as members felt the films did not adequately represent traditional Indian culture.
Gondhal was selected from 33 competing films, having previously won the Silver Peacock Award for Best Director at the 2025 International Film Festival of India.
