West Bengal Removes 5,299 Loudspeakers from Religious Sites

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari confirmed that 5,299 loudspeakers have been removed from mosques and temples across West Bengal to enforce court-mandated noise pollution limits of 55 decibels during the day.

The state administration dismantled 4,203 loudspeakers from mosques and 1,096 from temples, following directives to ensure sound remains within the premises of religious institutions.

Three rebel TMC MPs, including Yusuf Pathan, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday to submit a memorandum expressing concerns over the enforcement of these norms and religious freedom.
