Japan urged the United States to strictly enforce discipline among its military personnel after a Marine was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving during a curfew in Okinawa.
The arrest occurred on Saturday following an earlier 30-day curfew and a two-day alcohol ban imposed after another American Marine was charged with murder.
Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi requested that the U.S. side implement effective measures to prevent recurrence and ensure full compliance with nighttime curfews.
