Ebola Outbreak Spreads to Six Provinces in DR Congo

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has reached six provinces, with the Africa CDC warning it could become the largest in history if not contained.

Congolese health officials confirmed 4,566 cases and 2,128 deaths since May, though experts believe the outbreak actually began in February, leaving a gap in data for those months.

Over 63 per cent of deaths are occurring within local villages rather than medical facilities, increasing the risk of further transmission to neighboring countries like Uganda.
