Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan presided over the commissioning of INS Samarthak, the Indian Navy's first indigenous multi-purpose vessel, in Karwar.
Built by Larsen & Toubro with over 75% indigenous content, the ship is designed to test indigenously developed sensors and weapons.
The vessel is equipped for anti-submarine warfare, underwater surveillance, coastal operations, and humanitarian assistance.
