BJP Seeks NHRC Probe Into Alleged Custodial Torture in Punjab

BJP leader Tarun Chugh has petitioned the NHRC regarding the alleged custodial torture of Mohanjit Singh, who was arrested after protesting against drug abuse at a September 2 event.

The complaint alleges that Punjab Police stripped the youth, used electric shocks, rubbed salt into wounds, and insulted his family members during detention in the Sunam constituency.

Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar condemned the incident, demanding an apology from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and calling for an independent fact-finding team to visit Sheron village.
