Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested 30-year-old IT engineer Vaibhav Mishra in Bengaluru for allegedly sending extortion and threat messages to actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Tusshar Kapoor.
The accused allegedly sought to exploit ongoing fear from recent shooting incidents linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to demand ₹5 crore from Tusshar Kapoor via an audio clip.
Police noted that the engineer has no apparent ties to the Bishnoi gang and will bring him to Mumbai following a local court transit remand.
