Karnataka launched a multisectoral action plan to reduce population salt intake by 30% by 2030 and align state efforts with World Health Organisation recommendations.
The initiative targets salt consumption across households, food consumed outside, and processed products, while encouraging potassium-enriched low-sodium alternatives.
Health Minister U.T. Khader stated the plan integrates dietary counselling through the Gruha Arogya program and the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases.
