Research published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine suggests that both high-intensity stepping and higher daily step counts significantly lower the risk of early death.
Data from 103,684 participants showed that maintaining a brisker pace of at least 80 steps per minute for 30 minutes daily provides health benefits comparable to higher volume, lower intensity walking.
The study, which tracked deaths through November 2022, indicates that even those with fewer than 5,000 daily steps can reduce mortality risk by increasing their stepping intensity.
