Air India Sacks Pilot After Positive Drug Test

Air India terminated the pilot-in-command of a Delhi-Phuket flight on September 4, 2026, following a positive test for psychoactive substances.

The pilot was operating the August 4 flight when it experienced a mid-air altitude loss, causing injuries to 24 passengers and crew members.

An Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau report confirmed the pilot's substance use and recommended priority action by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
